Surf camp Senegal

Surf camp Senegal is located in Yoff, a typical Senegal village, surrounded by beautiful nature and an untouched beach. The surf house is located close to the beach where you can enjoy surfing in warm and clear water and rest in the shadows playing drums. The waves are long, with two sections and very fast. Beginners can learn hear in safety with close by life guards all year round.

Yoff is a small village on the north coast of Senegal, 10 minutes by car from Dakar (the capital of Senegal). The beach is huge, with white send and blue water, umbrella on the beach, beach volley, bars and fast food. Yoff is the most popular beach break in Senegal, where conditions allows to surf all the year long! You can learn to surf in safety or go surfing the reef around Dakar, every kind of waves are at the doorstep.

The surf house has a family-like atmosphere, and besides surfing you can play drums with our friends, listen to the music, have a coffee or just rest in the shadow. You can take your time and organize your stay as you want. We can also help you to organize some additional activities like horse riding on the beach, fishing boat trip, quad, safari, historical visits, drums classes etc.

Summer season (April - September) is the rain period in Senegal, meaning that you may have a strong rain for ~30 minutes and the sun the rest of the day. The rest of the year rain is very rare. The summer time is humid and hot in the centre of the Senegal, but on the beach you can always enjoy a light breeze. The water is warm from April to December, but in winter you might need a 3/2 wetsuit.

The surf school is recognized by the Senegal Surfing Federation, and participle to the national surfing championship. The surf camp offer different sizes of boards and wetsuits suiting most surfers.

The surf school hold classes at Yoff Beach Break just in front of the surf camp, but other surf spots are also used depending on the tide and the swell direction.

After one week of surf school, most beginners are out with the instructors catching waves. You’ll love to learn to surf with local people, in a friendly and professional atmosphere.

• Surf school 6 days per week, 4 hours per day

Surfari is a great option for more experienced surfers. Every day there is a different swell, a different wind etc. This doesn’t matter if you book a surfari. Every day you will be accompanied by a professional local surf guide who will show you the best breaks of the region from Yene in the south to the bay of Cayar in the North

If you have already an intermediate – advance level and you want to discover the Senegal waves, surf every day with the perfect conditions and improve your surf with different kind of waves, you can choose the Surfari pack. We will leave Yoff in the morning and we will come back in the evening, after some good surf sessions around!

You can enjoy the surfari pack all the year, we are close to the reef and to the best beach break in Senegal!

The accommodation we offer is in the surf house is on the Yoff surf spot, just 100 meters from the beach. We can offer shared rooms and double rooms, kitchen, common space. Close to the surfhouse you’ll find fruits, food, restaurant, internet coffee and banks.

Standard accommodation mean you will share the surfhouse with other surfers. The surf house is a typical Senegal house with a familiar atmosphere over it. You will get you own bed and locker but share room and bathroom with the other guests. If traveling in a group, arrangements can usually be made so that you and your party can stay in the same room (some of the rooms are even double rooms). A kitchen is available for use if you’d like to cook your own meal and there’s plenty of space to hang out in. The surfhouse is 100 meters from the beach and close to the main street where you can find shops, banks, taxi, pharmacy, fruits, internet coffee.

Upgraded accommodation is a good option for couples who prefers to get a private bathroom. There is only one upgraded room available in the house, and the price is the same per person (but can only be booked by 2 people together), so make sure to book this early on.

If you only want to book the accommodation and surf the coast by yourself you are welcome to book "accommodation only", which includes accommodation, airport transfer and meals (breakfast and dinner).

Arrival at Senegal is usually done through the Dakar airport (airport code: DKR). Upon your arrival at the airport a staff member will be waiting for you and drive you to the surf camp. A ride that takes about 10 minutes. Upon departure you will get a ride back to the airport.

The transfer to/ from the airport is included for all guests staying for a week or more. Otherwise, pick up is arrange able for 30€ per carload.

Dakar airport is Senegal’s largest airport, and has connections with many major cities in Europe and the US through international airlines such as Delta Air and Air France.
