Surf camp Lisbon, Portugal

Surf camp Lisbon is located on the Portuguese west coast, just 40 minutes away by car from the centre of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. The closeness to the capital makes airport transfer easy and gives you the opportunity to both surf and explore the capital. Also just 15 minutes away is the World Heritage town of Sintra with its beautiful monuments and castles.

The area receives consistent Atlantic swells and provides great surfing all year round for both beginners and more experienced surfer. There are lots of great surf spots to be explored and the upfront location offers the possibility to surf 3 different beaches without having to take any form of transport.The area is also well suited for Kite surfing (kite surf lessons can be arranged on demand).

If after a perfect surf day, you have any energy left, the town has lots to offer, from quiet bars and cafés where you can enjoy the most amazing sun sets and explore fantastic local restaurants offering a vast choice of food. There are a few lively bars in the area and there is always the possibility to catch a taxi to Cascais or Lisbon for some more hard core partying!

Both the air and water temperatures are nice and consistent year round. In the summer (May to September) you can expect air temperatures around 30 degrees and for the winter, no less than 15 degrees. The water tends to be warmer in the winter than the summer. There is not too much rain in this area and the winter swells are the best.

The surf school usually holds classes at a lovely beach just two minutes walk from the surf house. But the surf school is also mobile and ready to take you up or down the coastline to find suitable waves.You will never be more than 5 students per instructor. The instructors speak Portuguese, English and Spanish.

We guarantee that after one week of surf school the complete beginner will be able to surf and the experienced surfer will have improved greatly.

• 2 lessons a 1.5 hours per day, five days per week
• Transport between the surf camp and the beaches

If you have arranged your own accommodation, you can also book surfschool only. This includes 2 surflessons (à 1.5 hour), all equipment needed and pick up from the Sintra area (we can also help you arrange transportation from your hotel).

Surfari is a great option for more experienced surfers. Every day there is a different swell, a different wind etc. This doesn't matter if you book a surfari. Every day you will be accompanied by a professional local surf guide who will show you the best breaks of the region, places that just the locals know, taking you to discover new surf spots where you can enjoy perfect waves surrounded by beautiful untouched nature.

There are lots of different surf spots where you can end up surfing if you book a Surfari at surf camp Lisbon. For example you can end up surfing the powerful waves of Praia Grande and Guincho, ripping the long mellow waves of Sao Pedro or mingling with the pro’s at the world famous Ribeira D’Ilhas

• Surfaris with a local guide, five days per week (material not included)
• Transport to the best wave of the day

The accommodation we offer is located in Praia das Macas, just 2 minutes walk from the lovely beach where most surf lessons take place. Depending on your preferences we can offer you two different types of accommodation, standard or upgraded.

The standard accommodation is in twins/doubles/triples or rooms for 5. All have private bathrooms and includes all linen (towels and bedding). You will share a room with other travellers that book their holiday for the same period.

The upgraded accommodation is available for groups of two people or more and means you are guaranteed your own room with private bathroom. Also includes all your linen (towels and bedding).

There is a communal lounge with projector screen to watch your daily filming sessions or any DVD’s. Internet point and skype, a dinning room and kitchen to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner. The surf house do also have a nice patio perfect to enjoy a cold beer while watching the sunset after a great day in the waves.

For groups of 4-9 people we can also offer an apartment located in Ericeira, close to the famous break Ribiera D'Ilhas. The apartment is newly renovated and has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, kithcen and a patio. Please contact us for a price quote and further details.

Arrival to the area is easily done by air. Lisbon airport (airport code : LIS) is a major air hub and has several daily connections with all major European cities.Check with your local travel agency to find a good deal from your hometown.

When you arrive at the airport a staff members will meet you and give you a ride to the surf camp. Upon departure you will get a ride back to the airport. You can also be picked up at the bus or train station in Lisbon. Whether you arrive by air, into Lisbon, bus or train, into Santa Apolonia train station, it’s only about 30 minute drive to the surf camp.

For guests that have booked a full surfcamp package, and are at least 2 people, the pick up is included. If you have only booked the accommodation, or if you are traveling alone, the pick up costs 20 EUR per car (round trip).

If you are arriving after 22.00 or departing before 10.00, the pick up is an extra 15 EUR.
