Surf camp Bali

Surf Camp Bali is located in the countryside of south Bali between Padang Padang and Dreamland beaches, two of the most recognized surf spots of Bali with beautiful white sand beaches also suitable for swimming, snorkeling and other water sports. Bingin village is about 300 meters walk, and Padang Padang is also about 300 meters away from the surf camp. The atmosphere here is very tranquil and relaxed, but only a short taxi drive away you can go clubbing in the busy resort of Kuta Beach.

Bali has been called the green jewel of Indonesia. For many years this tropical island has attracted people from all over the world with its idyllic tropical beaches, lush green forests, great volcanoes soaring up through the clouds and rice fields tripping down hillsides like giant steps. On top of this, the Balinese people with their humble Hindu culture and truly friendly attitude will for sure make the best of your stay.

Touted as a surfing Mecca, Bali is extraordinary attractive for surfers. The months between June and September usually receive the largest swell, but the surf is consistent the rest of the year as well (and usually less crowded). Thanks to the surf camp’s geographical position, there is always good surf to be found for all levels of surfers. When the west cost of the Bukit is onshore, the camp is in easy reach of the east cost, meaning you can surf in offshore conditions every day of your stay. A short ride south of the surf camp, the notorious and mythical Uluwatu break is also waiting for the best surfers around and a visit to the Uluwatu temple is a cultural highlight.

Bali has a tropical climate characterized by two seasons. The average temperature in the dry season (April to October) is around 28°C. The wet season is slightly hotter with an average temperature around 30°C. Tropical showers occur in the wet season but alternate with clear sky and sunshine. No wetsuit is required as the water temperature is warm and pleasant year round.

Surf school

Learn how to surf

The surf school usually holds classes at Dreamland or Padang Padang beaches which are beautiful locations to spend the day - white sand and clear blue sea beach. But the surf school is also completely mobile meaning that you can expect to surf at the most suitable location each day. E.g. if the surf is too big at Padang Padang and Dreamland the beginner’s surf school will relocate to Jimbaran bay (approx 20 min) or Kuta beach (approx 40 min).

The surf program is individually designed depending on your level, e.g. complete beginners will have their first lesson in the surf camp’s swimming pool, while more experienced surfers are taken to suitable breaks. There is a limit of 4 students per instructor, meaning you will always get the full attention you need to improve your surfing skills. All instructors have surfed Bali since they were children and are qualified to Australian surfing instructor standards. They are experts on choosing the best time and location to surf.

We guarantee that after one week of surf school the complete beginner will be able to surf and the experienced surfer will have improved greatly.

The following is included for students attending the surf school:

  • Pick up and drop of at Bali International airport (for guests staying 1 week or more)
  • Accommodation at the surf camp
  • All surf equipment needed
  • Transport to different surf breaks
  • Approximately 2-3 h surf school, every day of your stay
  • Extra time after the classes for free use of surfboards
  • Video service (to check out your moves)
  • Breakfast (fresh fruits, hot food, juices etc.)
  • Lunch (at the local surf break or at the camp)
  • Wifi Internet access at the surf camp premises

If you have arranged your own accommodation, you can also book surf school only. This includes pick up from the Nusa Dua, Seminyak, Kuta or Jimbaran areas and all equipment needed.

It is also possible to book private 1 on 1 lessons. For guests not staying at the camp this costs 70 EUR per day including both pick up and equipment.

Arrival

How to get here

Arrival to Bali is usually done trough Bali’s international Airport. The airport code is DPS, relating to Denpasar, which is the capital of Bali, situated a few kilometers north of the airport. However, most tourists who visit Bali don’t set their foot in Denpasar instead they turn directly to the tourist resorts of Kuta Beach, Sanur or Nusa Dua.

The surf Camp is situated a few kilometers south of the airport. When you arrive at the airport a staff member will meet you and give you a ride to the surf camp (~20 min drive). Upon departure you will get a lift back to the airport. The airport transfer is free of charge for all guests staying 7 nights or more. For shorter stays an additional fee of 15.00 EUR each way apply. Minimum stay a the camp is 3 nights.

Since Bali is a high profile tourist destination, finding an air ticket is usually not a problem. From Europe, Americas and Asia there are lots of flights via Singapore, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur. From Australia there are direct connections with all the major cities. Check with your local travel agency to find a good deal from your hometown.

The remaining amount needs to be paid upon arrival, and since the ATMs in Bali has such low maximum limits, customers should bring cash upon arrival to cover the camp cost. For amounts over 300 EUR you can make an advance transfer, and for amounts over 500 EUR an advance transfer is required. Card payment upon arrival is not possible.
